Welp, it was a no show for tonight. Thank you Liz for trying to make it, I know you planned but an emergency came up.

BUT...........

I totally did the craft anyways! You ladies missed out on some awesome cookies! (haha, I'm just kidding, they were just frosted sugar cookies.) I'm not saying this to be mean. I totally understand that things happen. I love you all... and I hope you can make it next month!

So this is my Quiet Book I made:

Both of the folders I did were 5x8s. So when I printed my pictures, I made them on Microsoft word on 5x8 size paper. It printed on normal size paper. But this made cutting my pictures and arranging them so much easier. Because not only did I do a picture per family member... I made collages of different movie characters. What I also did was cut out a 5x8 size thick lined paper to go on the back of each picture. That way, the kids could have some free drawing space for what ever they wanted to draw.

I didn't want to label the books under each child's name because I didn't want any fighting. So I put their favorite colors on the front the folder and their picture as the first in the Quiet Book.

This is an example of one of the Disney cartoon pages I have. This one is Toy Story. What I did was search for each movie theme I wanted, and put them in a collage. I picked movies that my kids love, so I know they will like coloring on them.

This is how I attached the dry erase markers. (Mine have the erasers on the caps.) I took an elastic strip and hot glued them so there were bumps. After they dried, I squeezed the markers in to place. **Note**If you want to do this... make sure you put them more towards the left than the right... you don't want them hitting the metal clasps and making the folder shut weird.

This is a little video showing how this whole idea works (as I'm sure you could just imagine  but I wanted to put a vid on here anyways haha).

Ok.... so for next months Main Craft...

So because I was going to also use this months meeting as a general organizational meeting as well, and no one made it... I am also going to be planning and hosting May's Main Craft. I already have an idea... you should be able to see in on the left hand column. I will send invites and notices out for that date when it gets closer so that you ladies can put it in your calender.

And like I said... if you know about the meeting, and you don't want to do the Main Craft, please come anyways! It's always fun just to get together and chat for a while.
I have a TON of Chalkboard Paint left over!!!
What to do?! What to do?!

These are my next little craft ideas.

I have a globe someone was willing to give me. As an added bonus, it lights up! So I might just put the chalkboard paint over the water. Might be a cool night like/not board.

I also have a few clay pots now. I might not do herbs like in the picture, but I will paint them like that. I think it's cute. Or maybe I'll do the whole thing black. I don't know yet.

I love the picture frame idea. I don't want to have too many chalk board things in my house, so this one I might just make as a gift I give someone :)
Chalk Board Tables

I'm pretty excited about this little craft I did. I was looking online for a desk for J for Joy School. But since my craft budget is $0-nun, everything was way over budget. So I decided to put my creative hat on and think of something I could make. I got this idea from pinterest (duh) but it wasn't done quite like this. I then started looking back online on the For Sale/Swap page on FB.

I found this women who was selling 3 end tables for $15. These 3 tables were alone already a better deal than one desk I could have bought. I went to Walmart and bought some Chalk Board Spray Paint. (FYI, it does not take 2 spray cans to spray the tops of these three tables, more like 1/2 of 1 - so I deff have extra that I need to find another craft to use it on)
Because I wanted them to look like desks, I sprayed the majority of the top and when it dried, I drew a square in the middle with pencil - measured of course.

After that, I picked out some paint colors - my kid's favorite colors, Red for J, Blue for Zay, and Pink for Lil' Miss. I got the Paint from Walmart. It was maybe $5 for the three colors. I had to do 3 coats of each color to make it really stand out.

After the paint was dry, I found some stickers from the $$ Store and covered them.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the end result. The boys are really excited about them. So the total amount spent on these were around $25.

Bird Feeders!!
Who wants to make one of these for Spring?

Yep, I'm pretty excited to make these. We have birds come over to our house from time to time. They use to come over a ton because of our tree... but since we cut it down, I think the birds are kinda upset with us. SO, I thought it might be a fun Friday craft to do with the kids.

        Materials
  • 50 popsicle sticks
  • 1 large popsicle stick (tongue depresser)
  • 1 bag of bird seed
  • 1 tub of outdoor paint
  • 2 long pieces of hemp cord to hang their bird feeder
  • Elmer's X-TREME glue
  • 2 glitter glue sticks
       To make the bird feeder
How to make a popsicle stick bird feeder
  • Line up 12 popsicle sticks.  Glue 2 sticks across them.  Turn it over.
  • Do a second row of popsicle sticks going in the opposite direction to strengthen the base (I actually did this at the end because it was a last minute decision, but doing it at the beginning will give it more support as you build).
  • Alternate popsicle sticks around the frame once.
  • Glue down to the tongue depresser.
  • Continue alternating popsicle sticks around the outside until you have 6 rows, gluing each popsicle stick down as you go.  Set aside to dry.
  • Let the kids paint their bird feeder, and set aside to dry.
  • Parents: using a hot glue gun, attach the hemp cord to the underside of the bird feeder.
  • Thread the cord underneath the top round of popsicle sticks (as shown above) and again, glue using a hot glue gun.

Ok, so here is my process and finished product. It was a lot more work than I thought, but it was totally worth it. I love it! It's pretty heavy though lol. When I hang it on the wall, I'm going to have to make sure that  it's nailed into a stud post.
Picture 1 - I picked my fabric and ironed it so it was completely straight.
Picture 2 - I had my husband cut the metal to fit the size of the canvas.
Picture 3 - BE CAREFUL! Once cut, the metal is VERY sharp! I cut myself a little.
Picture 4 - My husband did this little extra wood piece inside the canvas to help the metal not bow when we nailed it on.
Picture 5 - We originally were going to screw the metal down, but for this frame, we found it better to nail it all instead.
Picture 6 - This is the finished canvas with the metal all nailed in.
Picture 7 - We then sprayed the metal with adhesive spray and then laid my fabric over it. Then stapled the remaining fabric to the back.
Picture 8 - Finished product. I painted the inside of my frame because it had water stains on it. I was going to paint the whole frame, but I like this better. I stuck round magnets on the back of my makeup I wanted up on the board and then put them in order. I also suck a magnate line on the fabric so that I could keep some of my bobby pins on it. I kept my foundation, concealer, and makeup like that down because it would be too heavy to magnetize. So I put it in a little heart shaped dish along with my eye liners that were too small to be magnetized. I also have a square dish for all of my brushes.

Overall - Good craft. More work than I thought... but totally worth it! I love how it looks, and I'm excited to have everything organized now.
If you decide to do this project and have any questions, just get a hold of me.

Ok, so I know I said I wasn't going to any other craft project until I got my paining done, but last night I came upon a problem that needed to be solved.
I'm sure all of you women, like me, have makeup. But my bathroom is really small and my room is too... so I don't really have space to put everything.
Last night was a rough night for me. I was aggravated with a lot of different things. I went into my bathroom and knocked over a ton of stuff. I mean, things were fly'n everywhere. And I thought, there has to be a way I can organize all of this crap! lol. So I started looking on Pinterest for any ideas and I came across this....

The Make-up Magnate Board

I'm pretty excited about this. A while ago, I got a few big picture frames for free. So Vwa-La! Today I got all I need for my little project.

FYI
I got a TON of the metal for this project... so if you would like to do this, you can have what ever size you need for like $5 or something - depending on how much you need.

I have all of the instructions and supply list if you would like to try this out. If you don't have what you need.... since I just got all of my supplies.... I'll tell you where to get it all. The magnates cost me less than $5. And like I said, the metal backing would be about $5 too. So you can do this for like $10 if you have a frame :) Just facebook me if you are interested!

I am ALSO doing this crafty little Brush Holder.........

I've never bought coffee before...let me tell you, it's tricky LOL (not really, but if you were watching me, you would think so). The glass box cost $4 something at Walmart. And the coffee beans were around $5. You have to get the "Whole Bean" and not the 98% of the coffee on the self "Ground" haha. I love the smell of coffee so this will be great in our small bathroom - while taking hot showers, these beans should make it smell amazing. BUT if you are deff not a coffee fan, you can put something else like those cute little glass marbles :)

Hello all.
I'm feeling a little ambitious and I think I would like to try and do a personal Pinterest Craft every Saturday. Even if it's something small. I just need to spend a little"Me" time and do something. I'm not holding group meetings every Saturday (only the 1).... but totally feel free to do the same craft I'm doing and send me a picture of what you come up with.

I'm really wanting to do a painting for a friend... so I think for my first few non-group member Saturdays I'll be working on that, and maybe posting some pics of my progress. But after that's done, I'll start planning out all of my Saturdays to try and do one craft.
